The Mona Lisa

I’d like to talk about a 1986 Toyota Supra built by Trevor Labrum. It is the result of an insatiable itch and a never ending journey that starts in 2005.

Trevors uncle had unfortunately passed away leaving the world behind as well as a loving family and an 87 Supra. Shortly after in 2005, Trevor had bought the near mint condition Supra from his aunt.

In 2007, he got bit by the Turbo bug which resulted in a 7MGTE swap from an 87 turbo with front end damage. Mods/upgrades at the time consisted of 550cc injectors, Lexus Afm, SAFC2, as well as all supporting mods for a CT26 (60.1 trim). In 2009, after toasting a 1st gear thrust washer Trevor sent the R154 off to Marlin Crawler, CA for a full upgrade including all MC billet options.

Today, the Supra has seen many changes including a 2JZGTE swap, AEM Infinity ECU (W/ Tweak'd Harness), GSC S1 Cams (W/ Beehive Springs), PTE 6266, 1300x injectors, Dual Walbro 450, Marlin Crawler R154 (W/ OS Giken Twin Clutch), Piratetip Built 3.93 Differential, and AZP 6 pot front and 4 pot rear stoppers.

There’s many details as well that are not listed that I personally appreciated such as the beautiful pie cuts and welds. The carbon fiber cooling plate, a custom fuse box, as well as the fact Trevor maintained a sense of OEM functionality and look. The Supra still has cruise control, original pre 89 tail lights, as well as most of the original interior including the seats.

In the future, Trevor doesn’t plan on ever changing the OEM look of the car but definitely has plans to upgrade practically everything else (I’m sure we all know how it goes when you do that one upgrade lol). He opts to swap out his current 2J and go VVTI. So if you think this Supra is a piece of art like I do and don’t know how it could possibly get better do yourself a favor and maybe give him a follow. Thank you Trevor for everything you have shared to help put this feature together as well as showing me the car at the PACNW Supra event. Can’t wait to see the car again next year and as it continues to progress.
