“Red”
February 14th, 2018 during a nasty snowstorm I give in to the urge to buy another Supra. Named after Joan Halloway from Mad Men. The new to me Supra has more gusto and goodies than it’s predecessor. A stock CT-26 Turbo, R154 Transmission, and signature removable Targa Top are all things I finally get to experience for myself.
During ownership, Red received many modifications and parts that never came to “life” so to say. A Driftmotion intercooler kit may have been the only upgrade during it’s time of running.
In the background, a 1JZ-GTE Non-VVTI was sourced from a good friend I had met through The Supra Page who made plans for a 2J swap. A Marlin Crawler fully built R154 (Originally meant for Duane’s MKIII) was also included in the sale with an ACT stage 2 clutch kit, Fidanza lightweight flywheel, and complete ARP hardware sourced from Driftmotion. The 1JZ came with USDM 550cc Injectors so a Radium Fuel Rail, Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump were all collected to upgrade the fuel system.
Other various parts included AEM IGN1A coils and a Driftmotion intercooler kit and downpipe with dreams to add a Garrett 3076R Turbo later on.
During the time Red ran, I had the amazing opportunity to meet other Supra owners thanks to a chance encounter Shay Bisconer during a track event at Pacific Raceways.
With a bit of persuading, I managed to convince my Dad to tag along with his 1989 Turbo White Package for the annual PACNW Community Meet.
Since then, Supra or not, I have made a point to join every year for the “Supra Family” gathering.
